Our fastest selling signature is back for its only release of the year. Due to it’s tendency to sell out quickly in the past, I decided to select specific moments where reverence and celebration collide to offer this as a gracious release.
This year, in celebration of 5 years of The Hive, I’m pleased to share our most recent vintage of Long Forgotten Mind- a whole lotus flower filled with handmade wild tree green tea.
An old staple tradition in Vietnam, Long Forgotten Mind is the gracious fusion of some old tree material green tea and organic grown lotus flowers (neulumbo nucifera)
This is the signature tea of our dear friends from the Nguyen family. The green tea handmade, meticulously by Mr. Nguyen solely & the lotus flowers grown, harvested and packed by the Nguyen family.
This tea has been carefully selected from ancient tea trees, aged approximately 300 years and upward to 600. These are young Qing Ming leaves, meaning they are the first picked leaves of the Spring, harnessing the energy of the year that followed. Hand picked by 1 bud, 1 leaf, withered and hand-roasted manually on the pan continuously for 90 minutes.
This tea is completely wild & handmade.
The lotus flowers are grown up in the neighbouring property by the Nguyen family. Each summer, the Nguyen’s will call upon their extended family to come and collect the lotus flowers so that they may dry and store the tea inside of. Each season becomes a picturesque revelry of pink petals flying through the air by the hands of the children as the elders pack tea from large lotus leaves laid out across the floors.
The alkaloids of the lotus flower attests to heightened production of serotonin, 5-hydroxyyindoleacetic acid and the body’s natural tranquiliser, GABA- which comes wonderfully complimentary to the diverse energetics of green tea made from old, mature tea trees.
Mr Nguyen has intended to keep the tea truest to it’s expression in nature.
These leaves poetically capture the magnificence of the fog laden lands that these forests reside on.
*Each flower is packed with 10g of green tea.
