a wooden relic tea boat
I'm so pleased to share our new collaboration with our dear friend Thom (@relic.form)
Though not exclusively limited to, the primary purpose of these serve as a place for one's teapot to rest. The tea boat can be a grounding addition to the chaxi, lending an archaic gravity to the tea stage.
These tea boats have been made using Otway Messmate (Eucalyptus Regnans x Eucalyptus Obliqua),
carved and preserved from wood salvaged from a fallen tree in the Otways, Victoria.
Wood is a living medium, subject to it’s nature and environment always,
In reciprocity to the might of our trees and the practices that come with tea, these pieces have been carved to last an age but it’s natural for wood to dry out through time, slowing down the drying out of these wood artefacts by working with ancient wood preservation practices and through its timeline caring for them by applying wood oils and waxes, as a result of the preservation technique the pieces are water resistant and washable, although avoid soaking in water for long periods and also fire resistant, though avoid storing directly by a heat source for long periods of time. We trust that with the quality and care taken to piece together these artefacts that they will serve you and space greatly and for a long time to come.
The size of this tea boat is 15cm in diameter,
and can comfortably hold all sizes of teapots.
