a 1990s old tree shou pu’er style trà phổ nhĩ tea
this was an entirely spontaneous attainment. we were departing the old storage cellars in ha giang, vietnam, while I was purchasing my allocation of the softening moon. on my way out, I happened upon a container full of loose leaf material. I queried into it, gave it a smell and was immediately infatuated with it. I asked some questions, to which xon gleefully gave positive accolade and sent me off with everything he had left.
this tea was produced in the 1990s by Xon's grandfather, a tay tribe local passionate for fermented tea practices he learnt over the border in yunnan, china. over the years, xon has held onto this tea for special moments in his life.
This is a brilliant example of an aged shou style tea from Vietnam. With a slight storage taste that dissipates following the first steeping, this is a deeply relaxing, incredibly smooth and grounding in energetics.
It's an honour to receive the final remnants of this tea and share it here in a very limited quantity.
