A 2022 ancient tree sun-dried red tea. Produced by our dear friends Hùng & Yen on Tây Côn Lĩnh Mountain in Ha Giang, Vietnam.
for some years, the desire to explore a production method with the wild material of the ancient large leaf varietal trees of far north vietnam has called. the natural complexity and sweetness that comes with the leaves in this region has been foretelling of a potential unexplored amongst producers here.
upon my last travels to the mountain, I was fortunate enough to request this and with hands on, learn more about the ways the raw leaves wished to be expressed. what we got was a red tea that is wild, rich, translucent and often times drawn back to the clarifying qualities of a jewel.
Due to the quality of the material used to produce this tea, I requested a lower oxidation compared to other red teas. This was to give room for the nuance of the wild characteristics of the raw leaf to find residence, and in turn, beckon deeper energetics.
